Tackling English reading and comprehension in underprivileged schools
By emphasizing the significance of reading and comprehension skills, we aim to empower children in underprivileged schools in Andhra Pradesh with the tools they need to excel in their English language learning journey. We believe that by providing access to quality reading materials and fostering a love for reading, we can make a lasting impact on their educational development and open doors to a brighter future.
Exposure to reading and comprehension in English has a significant impact on boosting the confidence of children. When children engage with books, articles, and other written materials, they gradually become more familiar with the language and gain a sense of mastery over it. As their reading skills improve, they are able to understand and comprehend more complex texts, which in turn enhances their self-assurance. They develop a sense of empowerment, knowing that they can navigate and understand written information independently. This newfound confidence allows them to embrace the language with enthusiasm.
Moreover, reading exposes children to different ideas, perspectives, and experiences. As they encounter diverse characters and narratives, they broaden their horizons and gain a deeper understanding of the world around them. This expanded knowledge and awareness contribute to their self-esteem, as they become more knowledgeable and capable of engaging in conversations and discussions on a wide range of topics.
When children read extensively, they come across a wide range of words and phrases that they may not encounter in everyday conversations. This exposure to diverse vocabulary helps expand their language skills and improves their overall comprehension abilities. By encountering new words in context, children can better understand their meaning and usage, which ultimately contributes to their fluency in English.
